The EFCC regular August meeting will be dedicated to two topics only, with a specific time allowance for all, the DVHS High School on Ridge Ave & a re-design of Midvale Ave.

6:45 – 7:15:     July Meeting Follow-up:  This will focusing on a follow-up to the July meeting regarding the Delaware Valley High School proposed for Ridge Avenue. ONLY specific officers of EFCC and other community members involved in the daily happenings of the topic will make a brief presentation, allowing time for discussion. This will end punctually!

7:15 -7:20:    President’s Announcements. ALSO, New Business or Old Business can be brought up and noted for record. All discussion on such will be continued until the September 14th Meeting.
7:25-7:55:     Presentation of East Falls Development Corp. along with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s design team, to present a re-design for Midvale Avenue in the area stretching from Conrad St./Warden Drive down to Ridge Avenue. More info can be found in the EFDC article elsewhere in this issue of The Fallser.
7:55- 8:30:     Q & A, Discussion of EFDC Presentation: Give your input into how the street can work better for residents, businesses and the health of the river.

Neighbors Query Falls Center Plans PDF Print E-mail

During this past month the East Falls community learned more about a proposed charter high school and new college campus to be located at Falls Center, the former MCP site on Henry Avenue.

The schools would use a large area of space in Ann Preston Hall, and some of the former science labs, which are located in an adjacent building. The zoning of the site, C-2, allows for this use. Parking within the campus itself is technically sufficient to serve the new schools.

However, while the high-school, which is backed by an accredited university and may indeed become a school of choice in the strained Philadelphia public school system, one has to wonder, Does this serve East Falls?

Falls of Schuylkill Library, Midvale Avenue & Warden Drive

1. Zoning Committee: The proposed final public review session and proposed adoption date for the restructured committee Operating Rules with clearer, more comprehensive language. The latest proposed version of these rules are available on the website: eastfallscommunity.org.

2. Limelight Arts: Have you seen this new facility on Ridge Avenue, by Scotts Lane? Come on out to meet the director and learn more about how they can serve the community.

3. Nominating Committee & Nomination of Candidates Officers for 2009-2010: A report from the Nominating Committee on the Proposed Slate of officers will be made. Opposing nominations will be taken from the floor. Nominees are eligible if members are in good standing one-month prior to nomination.

4. Upcoming Events:  The “Soup Slam & Jam” details will be distributed to all. If you liked the Chili-Cookoff, this we expect this to be just as fun!

5. EFCC Grants Program: Update on status of Grant Applications.

6. General updates from EFCC Committees and other organizations, including: Playground/Inn Yard Park Committee; Tree Tenders; Traffic Committee; EF Development Corporation; East Falls Village
7. New Business/Old Business
