At the June 11, 2012 East Falls Community Council meeting, members will make four important votes. Friends of Mifflin School The EFCC Executive Committee recommends to the membership that the following motion receive positive support: That EFCC form a Friends of Mifflin School (FMS) initiative to engage the East Falls community in a closer relationship with the school community (students, parents, and faculty); and to learn from the school community how FMS can best support and collaborate with it. This action reflects the positive spirit that has emerged during the past school year between the Mifflin School community and East Falls residents, and visa versa. It is designed to begin conversations with those currently engaged at Mifflin School and to explore ways that the East Falls community can be supportive. All residents of East Falls who want to be involved can contact the EFCC office (215.848.3300) or

Ridge Ave. Parking Design The East Falls Development Corp. and the East Falls Business Assoc. propose that parallel parking be developed along Inn Yard Park on Ridge Ave. to meet the needs of residents, park users, and local businesses. The project, funded through Councilman Jones’ office, is available for review on the EFCC website eastfallscommunity.org. The proposed design creates 9-10 new parking spaces by cutting into the sidewalk on the park side of the street. It uses a sliver of grass along the length of the park (a long skinny triangle (at most 3 feet wide at the fire station side and down to nothing at the other end) using 259 sq. ft. of parkland to maintain an 8’ sidewalk. There will be a new pedestrian crossing marked at Stanton St. Election of Officers At the April meeting there were no additional nominations from the floor for officers to serven the EFCC’s Executive Committee 2012-2013. Thus, the slate proposed by the Nominating Comm. is uncontested. To be elected are Tom Sauerman, President; Barnaby Wittels, 1st VP (zoning); Claire Stilley, 2nd VP (programs); Joe Leube, Treasurer; Chris Caporellie, Corresponding Sec.; and Drew Myers, Corresponding Sec. Three current board members will be replaced: Meg Greenfield, Roger Marsh, and Joe Dogherty. The community is appreciative for their years of dedicated service.
