Gustine Recreation Center Opens
Excited, following all the speech-making (or not, ala State Rep. Kathy Manderino), children who attended the Grand Opening of the new Gustine Lake Recreation Center on Ridge Avenue, wait for the outsized scissors to arrive. One snip, and voila, a beautiful new building with full size basketball court, meeting room/dance space, exercise room w/special flooring, and crafts room, as well as rec center and community offices, ready for all to enjoy.

Gustine Lake Rec Center’s director, George Kilcullen, standing outside the new facility, has a wide range of activities planned for area children. When The Fallser stopped in for a look-see, George was happily unpacking an assortment of games, craft supplies and sports equipment. He was also anticipating the arrival of a check from Councilwoman Carol Campbell which is to pay for a new kiln and supplies.

By December, George anticipates his winter schedule of activities to be finalized. He’ll keep you posted through The Fallser and the Rec Department’s website: http://www.phila.gov/recreation/

It is perfect that we can take the business loans and it opens completely new opportunities.
