It’s time for 3rd annual ARTS BY THE RIVER FESTIVAL. On Saturday, October 4 from 10am to 5pm, the neighborhood of East Falls will host this family-friendly event which promises something for everyon. This is a great opportunity to find unique gifts for the holiday season. This event will feature the work of area artists and craftsmen including glass, textiles, fine art painting and photography, as well as apparel and sculpture. Activities, great food and live entertainment are all part of this 3rd annual festival taking place along the Schuylkill River. “Last year's event drew people from all over the region, and as word has spread about what a great time this is, we’re expecting even more people to show up for the fun,” says Gina Snyder, Executive Director of the East Falls Development Corporation. This year, we have a new way to expand our artist participation with the inclusion of the group that started the Manayunk Arts Fair. We will also be partnering with Kiddie Kapers, sponsored by the East Falls Playground Committee. In addition, we are holding a design contest for a t-shirt graphic that best represents “Arts by The River.” T-shirts with the winning design will be sold at this year’s Arts by The River event - designs are due Sept. 5th. Arts organizations from the region will be at the event to showcase their classes and student work. Arts by the River will take place at Inn Yard Park, located between Midvale Avenue and the Falls Bridge along Kelly Drive and Ridge Avenue.
