Take out your October calendar and mark these important dates now! The 2008 East Falls Fall Festival will offer four new activities. Night Cemetery Tour by Flashlight: Laurel Hill Cemetery guides will offer tours along dimly lit paths just in time for Halloween. On Friday and Saturday evenings (Oct. 24 & 25) some of the cemetery’s restless spirits (portrayed by local actors) will be out and about near their tombstones to tell their stories. The 1-hour tours start each half-hour from 7:30 to 9:00; tickets range from $10 to $20. (215.228.8200) East Falls Rise: A Multi-Cultural Extravaganza: McMichael Park will be the site of food, fun, entertainment, and education on Saturday, Oct. 11, 11:00-5:00. We will celebrate the many cultures in East Falls in a program for children and adults of all ages. Organizational tables of information, free Moonbounce and activities for children, teen programming by teens, ribs-pizza and more, karate demonstrations, line dancing, poetry slam—and an endless array of activities, including shuttle busses to outlying neighborhoods. Sponsored by Stage Rep. Jewell Williams and the East Falls Community Council. The Saturday, Oct. 11 tour, from 10:00-11:00, is sponsored by the East Falls Historical Society for a $10 donation. (215.848.8396) Film Maker Martin Doblmeier Visits East Falls: Ten precious little Amish girls were shot by a madman in Nickel Mines, PA in 2006. Five died. Date and place to be announced. Sponsored by Falls Presbyterian Church. (215.848.6232) East Falls House Tour: Sunday, Oct. 19 from 12:00-4:00 a number of architecturally unique homes will be open.
